The aura at Signature Chess Club, The Greens, was buzzing with focused energy as young chess enthusiasts gathered for two thrilling days of strategic showdowns at the Grand Juniors Rapid Chess Tournament Edition 1 & 2. Held on June 21st and 22nd, 2025, these tournaments showcased the incredible talent and dedication of budding chess players in a dynamic 5-round format with a time control of 10 minutes plus 2 seconds increment.
Edition 1: A Saturday of Strategic Brilliance
Saturday, June 21st, saw the first wave of young competitors take to the boards. In the highly competitive Under 7 category, pint-sized prodigies displayed impressive tactical awareness. Congratulations to Jonas, who emerged victorious, demonstrating remarkable foresight and control. Shaurya secured a commendable second place, while Alejandro rounded out the top three, proving that age is no barrier to chess prowess.

The Under 12 category was equally captivating, with seasoned young players showcasing their refined skills. Kush triumphed, displaying a masterful understanding of the game. Rafe fought valiantly to claim the second spot, and Rasmus secured a well-deserved third place. A special shout-out goes to Reeva and Luca, who received special awards for their notable performances and sportsmanship.

Edition 2: Sunday’s Chess Spectacle Continues

The Under 7 category once again delivered thrilling moments. Mannan demonstrated exceptional skill to secure the top spot, followed by the impressive play of Dominykas in second. Daniel and Khaled also showcased their growing talents, claiming third and fourth places respectively—a special mention to Viti for earning a well-deserved special award.
In the Under 12 category on Sunday, the competition remained fierce. James showcased dominant play to clinch the first-place title. Vishruth displayed great strategic depth to secure second, while Rehaan and Samar rounded out the top four, proving their mettle in a challenging field.
